Default Alaska and logging programs

I use aclog for logging contacts. I noticed that in the country box Alaska come up when I enter the callsign, and nothing in the state box. Why does alaska come up as a country and not a state.

I'm not familiar with ACLog - is it a contest logging program or a general logging program? For some contests, and for DXCC, Alaska and Hawaii are both Countries. For WAS and for most domestic contests Alaska and Hawaii are States.
