I carry my PSR-800 to work in a messenger bag and listen to it when I can. If I am too busy, I listen to the recorded action later. One of the reasons I bring my scanner to work is that my place of employment is quite a distance from home. There are different services and stronger signals farther away from where I live. Bringing the PSR-800 to work also gives me the opportunity to keep learning it. Remembering how to program each model is very difficult when you own several scanners.

Well, I would if I was still a working stiff instead of a retired old coot.

I work night hospital security but can't have personal gear on my belt. The HT stays in my car until I get off work. When I'm off it is often on my belt when I'm shopping or our running other errands. BTW,...it's an old Radio Shack HTX-204.

I keep a PRO-106 in my office for bad weather days and an old HTX-200 HT in my desk. 200mW can hit the SKYWARN repeater down the street just fine.

Re: Does anyone else carry their personal ht or radio to work
I bring a dual band HT to work for just in case severe weather hits. I am the only licensed ham operator where I work, so I get weird looks, but they sure appreciate knowing what's coming or what is going on elsewhere.

I guess that since I have an hf rig, tuner, whip, and VHF/UHF radios installed in the company car, I most certainly do take some of my radios with me to work.

I am a member of the Calhoun County ARES/RACES Group here in Alabama and when there is threat of severe weather I will take my H/T to work with me. Just about any time the sky turns dark and I'm at work people come looking for me to find out what's going on.

The semi I drive for work just happened to have an NMO antenna on it that was unused.. I put in my IC-2720 and Larsen NMO-2/70.. And my 396t is with me every night.. Gives me something to keep the mind going during my 11 hour nights...

Carrying my Motorola APX7000 is part of my job. I would feel naked without it. :-)

On occasion I will take my HT with me when I am driving (I am a parts driver). I have a mag mount for it, but have to be careful not to use it for "business". Since I am for the most part I am with range of my primary repeater, I like to have it handy. I have not had anyone say anything, even when I have taken it into the store. Just to make sure, I have the stores call sign on the radio (two way business radio), just to remind me what call to use. (Then again no one ever uses the call, nor do they even know it)

Re: Does anyone else carry their personal ht or radio to work
Like tonight, we are expecting severe weather, so my HT is with me in my work bag just in case.

I always carry a radio with me. All of my commercial gear is programmed with HAM, GMRS, and the frequencies I use for the fire department on which I serve. On duty days I'll even carry two, one of which is dedicated to monitoring FD comms. When I work night shift at the hospital, I will have at least one HT, as its normally uneventful, so I'll chat with my buddies on either the GMRS or HAM repeaters. A scanner will usually accompany me to work as well (BCD396XT).
God bless my wife, as she has had to put up with me and my radios for 20 years now. She now asks me before leaving the house, "Did you grab your HT?" Actually, now that we're into GMRS, my wife has gotten into the habit of grabbing one of her HTs as well (and yes, sometimes two if she's on duty at the FD). I guess my habit has rubbed off on her, too! 😁

I work for a grocery store. Every year, I get tapped to sit in my car overnight for several nights leading up to Valentine's Day providing "security" for the sales tent that gets erected in the parking lot. That's the only time I bring my radios to work.

Man it is great to see real metal and hard rock fans here, I miss the old blues sound of metal that early metal bands used to incorporate in their music. When the bass was actually used as an instrument rather than a "filler" like modern bands and the lead and Rythme guitar didn't overload everything else.

I'm a school bus driver. I carry my htx-202 with me on the road, along with an adapter to let me use the 15x.xx antenna if I'm stopped for a time.

I usually carry my VX-6R to work with me. Although I don't monitor its there in the event that I need it. I have taken a medical transport from Watertown, NY to Plattsburg, NY along NYS RTE 3 and there is absolutely NO cell phone service in alot of the area. I didn't have my HT then but I did vow that I will NEVER be without it again. Yes our ambulances do have low and high band radios, we might get lucky if someone has any of our freqs that are pre-programmed into them, in a scanner or another radio, hear our cry for help if ever needed. So, now I always have my HT packed in my bag, with window clip for external antenna mounting.
