Default Max System 800 MHz Antenna on eBay - Great Deal!

Hi All,
I just wanted to pass along a great deal I got on eBay for a Max System 800 MHz antenna. I was interested in the Pro Shot 800 Antenna and the Max Systems 8HH antenna but didn't want to spend $65 or $30 just to try out an antenna that I wasn't sure about. I ran across this antenna on eBay for $9.95 + $8 shipping and I couldn't pass it up. Here's the link to the Buy It Now auction:

MAXRAD SYSTEM ANTENNA 800MHZ YAGI 3100-0230 AAGARD 800 - eBay (item 220391908331 end time May-14-09 05:17:48 PDT)

I bought the antenna and am very pleased with it, especially for the money. I bought the antenna and it arrived 2 days later by Priority Mail. Communications I've had with Tom have been prompt and courteous. It resembles the Max Systems 8HH sold by Universal Radio and Grove. It's a very solid antenna and definitely pulls in 800 MHz great. On my Pro-106 and PSR-600 it adds 1 bar to the S meter. I have no connection with the company, but just wanted to pass along this great deal.

Hope this helps,

Rich

Does it work well on all or most of the frequencies?

It seems to be slightly degraded on VHF & UHF, but on 800 it's great. I now pick up a county that is about 20 miles away from me that I was never able to pick up before. I'm pretty impressed by the antenna, especially for the money.

Here's the updated link to the item:

Hope that helps,

Rich

I guess what really confused me is the location that the antenna was listed in.

At least they fixed where they originally called the antenna a yagi. Good, bad or otherwise, the antenna definately isn't a yagi.

Smile On Sale Now $7.96

On Sale now for $7.96! Also $8 more for shipping but for as many as you want. I just got 4 of them and they work great and come new in a sealed box. They do seem to lose some of the signal on the VHF band though. You'll need the BNC 90 degree elbows to use them on a mobile scanner.

I just wonder if anyone ever tried to mast mount one of these antennas to see how it does in the open air?

Anything including a paper clip up on a mast will work better than any indoor antenna anytime.

They're back to calling it a Yagi.
