Default mag mount scanner antenna question?

I have a 2002 ford taurus & want to know how I can put the antenna on the trunk & close the trunk w/o damaging the cable? Any suggestions? Also, how can you ground a magnet mount scanner antenna to the trunk?

The cable should pass through the hinge side of the trunk lid on most cars without damage. You don't need to ground the mag mount, the performance difference at VHF/UHF is very small.

At VHF hi band and above there is very little if any degradation between mag mounting or permanently mounting an antenna. At HF it can be a big problem when the mag mount coax starts to become a counterpoise and its at a different RF potential than the vehicle skin.
