Default tuned stubby for vhf handheld

I have recently purchased a vertex vx354 vhf for use with my fire department. Nice radio. Can anyone tell me if i will suffer performance wise if I switch from the factory 6.5 rubber duck antenna to a 3.5 tuned stubby antenna. The tuned stubby is tuned for 150 to 162 MHz which is my radio's frequency range. Not quite sure if the large rubber duck is tuned or not.
