Question Larsen 3/4" NMO Roof Mount

I want to buy this roof mount however I need to know if I can use this on a piece of flat stock steel that I am going to have to use. First off I bet this sounds dumb to you but let me explain...
I am going to put this on a mirror of a tractor trailer. So this is going to be a mirror mount unit. I have a piece of flat stock steel already made with the 3/4" hole needed to use said NMO antenna roof mount. I know a car roof is not very thick so I need to know before I buy if I am going to have enough threads to attach this to my flat stock piece of steel. I am guessing it is about 1/8" to less than a 1/4" thick. Anyone have a clue if I am going to have enough threads to be able to make this work at all?

Look around you can buy NMO style mounts for mounting on larger thickness materials, just start seaching, don't settle for a standard mount find the one you know will work for your needs.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8310/4.5.0.110 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/-1 UP.Link/6.3.1.20.06.3.1.20.0)

Antenna Specialists used to make a nmo mount for multi thickness's. I may even have 1 on my shelf. You can also buy pre-made nmo mounts on the bracket for semi mirrors (maxrad and childs) used to and may still make them.

This mount uses regular NMO mount:
Mirror Mount Brackets - 3/4" 90 deg Mirror brkt

If you go thicker than 18 or 16 gauge sheet, use a thick mount:
Thick Surface Mounts - 3/8" or 3/4" - 3/8" Brass Mt,ThickPlate
