AR5000 PC programming ?

I have a AOR AR5000 that I would like to use my PC to program and control the receiver. I have tried 2 programs that support the receiver but when I try to connect receiver I am unable to communicate with a PC!
How do I put the receiver in the remote mode?? I have tried 3 PC's with different versions of windows and several cables! The manual doesn't have any info about setting the remote mode.

I am stuck Any help would be appreciated!
