Default That's Business

They have got away with Pounds for Dollars for a long time, but no doubt would charge Pounds for Yen if they could, and at the present rate of exchange the AR-DV10 would only cost us 151597.57 +VAT of course

Airband frequencies in the 118 - 137 MHz range have a bandwidth of 25KHz in the US and in many countries around the world.

In recent years, Europe implemented the 8.33 KHz bandwidth in the 118 - 137MHz range.

And since transmissions in the civil airband are always AM, the fact that the spec sheet numbers max out at 15KHz is puzzling, if those are indeed bandwidth figures.

No that is the spacing between channels, not the bandwidth...

Officially appears on AOR Japan's website:

https://www.aor.co.jp/receiver/product/ar-dv10/

It looks like P25 Phase II decoding is not supported.

A press release was posted in Japanese. Here's Google's translation:

We will begin shipping digital receivers " AR - DV 10 " announced at Ham Fair 2017 on April 20, 2018.
" AR-DV 10 " is the world's first * digital handy receiver compatible with nine types of digital radio. ※ As of April 2018

The housing adopts easy-to-grip design, and it corresponds to the waterproof performance IPX 5 equivalent.
By adopting the menu screen of the tile composition on the operation side, we aimed at operability with unity with various operation keys.

Thank goodness for the easy to grip design - I was very concerned it would be difficult to grip!

If grippage is ever a concern, you can always get these.

Default Choosing AR-DV10 over Uniden SDS100

I'm no longer considering the Uniden SDS100 . Having the TRX-1 and 325P2 pretty much covers my scanning needs and adding a wide band receiver with 9 digital modes is more appealing to me.

The Uniden BR330T was a unique scanner with broadcast AM with wide band reception. It was pretty cool listening to sporting events like Nascar, college and pro football and then switching back to scanning with a press of a button.

I'm hoping the AR-DV10 will exceed my expectations.

I was thinking the same thing. Hell when you ask just a simple question over in that forum you get jumped on by all the folks I guess who love Uniden. You get accused of bad mouthing Uniden. Geez I have had a bearcat since 1970. I finally just gave up their were some other questions I had in mind but even the Uniden rep agrees with the folks answers no matter how sarcasm they are telling you what you don't need in a system. Folks who are not even Uniden reps telling you their is no market for it. So I just gave up.

Patiently awaiting to see if it is approved. I would be a great addition to my ham shack.

İnteresting info from aor.jp

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your interest in the new AR-DV10 Digital Receiver.

In Japan it will be released by the end of the month, however the stores have already sold-out all their pre-orders so you would not be able to find any.
The next availability in Japan will be in June.
Regards,

AOR Customer Service

F5HPE,

Just out of curiosity, do you have other receivers you can compare the reception to on the airband between 118 and 137MHz?

John - All Scanners and Communications Receivers have to by Law be Cellular Locked, unless you do Government Work with a FCC License. they do manufacture Scanner with Cellular Enabled but you have to have documentation.
