Is there a way to find out date of manufacture by using the serial number or any other way of finding this information?

I emailed AOR and here is there response. Hell i already knew that!

We can't tell the exact production date, however, it would be made about 10 years ago.

I have an AR-8000 serial# 020384. Can you tell me when unit was made? Also how is serial number decoded?

Maybe this will help a little.
Mine has a serial number close to yours, and I purchased it new in 1996.
