Default considering purchasing an AOR handheld have a Q?

I formerly had an AOR 8200 handheld unit with freq max range 500khz-2040mhz if I recall. I am now looking into purchasing the upodated model mkIII but before making this purchase will AOR soon be releasing another updated model? I just don't want to make an expensive purchase and then something better gets introduced withing a 6 month time frame.

i was looking at the same an 8600 or an 8200 mkii or so on.well i had a deal for an 8600 but did not have the cash and a injury at work took me out of that deal.but that is not an answer to the question you asked.to tell you the truth i still want an aor in my collection but i have been looking real hard at an icom r-20 as a matter of fact in my post in the wanted section on this website was for an aor 8600 or a icom r-20 but again that is not what you asked.i think for a handheld the icom would be a better deal because you do not have to buy any add ons aor you need to buy a card for ctcss and recording audio where if you get the icom it has ctcss/dcs decode 4 hour record option i think.that is just my take on it.sorry if i ran on and on to be honest i had a few beers and sorry for the bad spelling and puncutation.Adam

Unhappy

also consider too.if you want the handheld wideband communications receivers to use as a scanner, you may be deeply disappointed.most of them scan slow, have no dpl, some have terrible audio.had the alinco dj-x2000.it was the most over priced usuless piece of junk going.after not learning that lessen,i bought the alinco dj-x30.that piece of crap is about as usefull as a child's play walkie talkie.at least the later was only $199.00.the dj-x2000 was like $550.00.i probably will never buy a "communications receiver" again.jusy my .2 cent's,other's mileage may vary.

I appreciate your feedback but I already had an AOR 8200 I had no issues what's so ever with reception or audio quality. Frequency search scan was not slow at all.

now as for CTCSS decode audio recording to me I don't need that if I wanted to record audio I would use a line in lead to pc HDD. Options are expensive because I had pc lead $110 and voice inverter card $80.

I always enjoyed the quality that AOR presents. But getting back to the original post I was just wondering if at anytime soon they where considering releasing an updated model that had higher frequency coverage etc.. The reason I sold my original AOR8200 was because they had released the MKIII with TCXO compensated chip and increased frequency range but I ended up using the money for something else and now I am considering getting the MKIII but dont want to end up back in the boat where an updated model gets released within a 6 month span or so. If that was the case I rather hold on to my money till an updated model gets released.
