hardwiring scanner

If you hardwire your scanner to the fuse box inside your car and ground the wire in the car, can you hear a difference rather than using the cigarette lighter port? Are you able to pick up farther and better?

AFAIK, this will not affect reception at all.

I have wired all the scanners in all my vehicles this way. Aside from being neater and more professional, it does reduce noise. A good solid ground will deliver less engine noise than the cheap cigarette lighter power cords. Just pick a good fuse to stick the hot lead into.
