Morning,

I can't seem to remember if I posted this question before, lately on here or not.
But here goes.....

In the database, enities are listed with the PLL tone to "open" the radio system
up so the base, mobile, or HT can "talk". Other enities don't have the PLL tone
listed.

Now, is there a "device" or computer program that could be interfaced with a
scanner that would detect and either show on the screen or "log" to show
that particular PLL set of tones to make it easier to add these to the RR data
base?

Too bad they don't make scanners that you could "program" the PLL tone into
to block other's on the same frequency from 'interfereing' with what you want
to hear, ha ha ha.

Most newer Unidens do this, and Butel Software logs it. I'm sure RS do this also, but not as familiar

Again, most Unidens with PL/DPL do this, but RS does not

PLL? I assume you mean PL. Get yourself a cheap 246T and you'll have a portable PL / DPL decoder.

The aforementiond 246T can also be programmed to selectively block unwanted PL / DPL traffic.

So can the newer GRE made Radio Shack scanners like the Pro-97, 2055, 96, 2096 all have CTCSS DCS squelch settings.

I use the Pro-92, Pro-97 & Pro-2055 and all have CTCSS/DCS modes including the ability to search for CTCSS/DCS on each frequency.

I also use a Uniden BCD-396T which has the same capabilitie. The BC-796D also has CTCSS/DCS functions including search, but the search is almost useless since it scrolls through each CTCSS tone / DCS code at a snails pace until it finds a match.

The RS models and the 396 have almost instant decoding of CTCSS/DCS when searching.

Hope this helps,

"Thanks", etc.

"Thanks", All,

I have an old Pro-2045 that has a CTCSS button on it. I've never USED it, LOL!
I bought the scanner "used" and the guy didn't have the manual with it. IF I can
get it to work for what I need, VHF monitoring, (145mcs-174mcs), I'll be happy.

I'm interested in not only getting the "tones" to open the 2 meter repeaters that
don't have a "code" listed, but also for the VHF fire & police departments as well
to report to Radio Reference.

I'll keep in mind those scanners that block certain tones or copy the tones. I
really appreciate the help.
