Default New Talk Group on Peoria System

Friday night, 4/17/09, I was monitoring the new Peoria system. In the search mode, I picked up traffic
on talk group 4139. Sometimes the traffic was encrypted, other times not. Wasn't able to determine
which UHF channel it was patched with, since transmissions were very brief.

Should that talk group be entered into the database?

On another note, the new Peoria system sounds a heck of a lot better than
the old UHF channels. Transmissions are very clear.

Thanks for helping out with this one.

As you find new TG's, please make every effort to ID the use BEFORE submitting them to the database. If you are not able to ID, then provide some information that might help ID the user of the TG, i.e. sounds like plumbing related in Glendale or sounds like a talk group between PD personnel.

Also, entering encrypted only talk groups into the database, as a general rule won't be entered, since no one can monitor it. Yes, there are some encrypted only talk groups that have been ID'd in the past and are there because it helps those monitoring a specific system to know where a user went. But, if the user of an encrypted TG is not known, it really is not helpful.

On a general note, there have a number of recent submissions that stated encrypted only, and that is why they weren't entered.

Keep up the good work all

Ok,
I just reviewed the current RR guidelines for DB Admins on encrypted talkgroups on TRS's. That appears to be ok to label as encrypted, even if unknown.

Sorry about that,
