Default Outage

Sorry for outages, COX really...really is horrible, we lost service again. I'm now connected through my phone. Hopefully Sprint doesn't care, but I'm gonna stream till I get COX service back(it goes out of service like 4-10 times a week).

Back when they were my cable TV provider I'd make them credit me 1 day's service every time they went out. The service never got better but I'd save a few bucks. Finally handed them their converter box back and went to satellite TV.

Don't know if they would still honor crediting your account like they used to do with mine, but can't hurt to ask! There may be more people who'll be very curious about what your outcome would be.

I've had good luck with them at my current address. Service was terrible at the last one - crappy Phoenix apartment with ancient inside wiring. (And bugs. Everywhere. Hated that place. Now I have bugs at the new place. Bastards...)

I used to do tech support for Cox. Here's some tips: Make sure you've got the modem as close to the jack as possible, with a short cable. 6 or 12 feet, no longer. If you can, put it on a jack by itself, rather than running a splitter. If you do run a splitter, use SHORT cables and only use the splitter they gave you with the modem. Are you running a router? I run a linksys WR54G and it's a POS. I reboot it (unplug power, count to 10, reconnect power) once a week, otherwise it just gets slower, and slower, and slower, and slower....

If all that doesn't help, try swapping the modem. They do go bad after a few years, especially the Moto surfboards. They're built in taiwan by monkeys I think.

Anyway, good luck. If you think Cox sucks wait till you try Qworst.

Have you been booted or ticketed by Arizona Parking Solutions? If so, read this.

Supposedly COX has now fixed the problem in the area. My internet is better, I'll give them that, but it's different now. Instead of extended periods of no internet it's quick, almost all day successions of internet down; this causes the feed to go down for 1 second or so and then come back. Once again the complaints will start. I hate my ISP.

No splitter, no Surfboard modem, close to jack and tons of bugs I just killed 3 scorpions and 1 black widow today this after exterminators came through. It's a netgear router fairly decent, the only thing I have done that I think has somewhat to do with the problem is I run a Belking router as a repeater and run my desktop through that. So it might be overloaded with internet requests, you wouldn't think so since I only run about 40kbps constantly through it but who knows.
