Question When will Chandler PD and PhxFD go to Digital?

A group I am with will be placing approx 20 scanners valley wide on towers, high rise buildings and low IF areas for remote monitoring. Right now we can get by with analog scanners for some areas such as Chandler and Phx Fire stuff, but I'm curious if anyone has an educated opinion on a time frame for when these 2 agencies will go to digital. I hear its soon.

Wirelessly posted (LGE-VX9100/1.0 UP.Browser/6.2.3.2 (GUI) MMP/2.0)

Phoenix Fire has already used digital during a
search and rescue incident a few weeks ago. I heard the switchover is close also.

Bite your tongue...

No ideas when they'll transition but I don't know about it happening really soon - something we can thank the recession for. On a side note, can you share a little more info on your remote monitoring project? Sounds interesting.

Hey Chad. Paul from Ameriscan here. Hope all is well at APSN. well, i have wondered this as you have, and after looking at several resources, including PFD: 800 MHZ RADIO SYSTEM NETWORK and some links in there, I am thinking its going to be a long while as phoenix fd stated in several places that they were dissatisfied with the in-building quality of the 800mhz radios, with all the cut backs included as AZscanner stated here, its probably going to be a while. However Mesa is using their vhf patch channels less and less, also there was a fire in mesa a couple days ago that was mostly on digital. Did you hear the hostage situation in gilbert yesterday. They were going back and forth on digital and vhf channels. Worst case scenario, just get some digital scanners ready to go so if they do change over you will be ready.
