I just don't understand why I cannot receive channel c on the phx wireless. does it have to do where i live? I hear something good on a or b and then they switch to c and i cannot hear it, except for tac4. do i need an antenna? sorry for the typing, my hand is broken, oh, i can't type!

It depends on which simulcast you are listening to. All traffic is on simulcast A, if you are listening to the other simulcasts you may or may not be hearing the entire call. Try setting up a bank/scan list/ or whatever you scanner uses that monitors only simulcast A control channels.

Astrak, thank you for replying. I have a bcd936t, so should i want to get this straight. I should set up a new system, let's say give it a quick key of 5, and ONLY program the red and blue frequencies for channel A in it? And what about the TGIDs? Just the C groups? Does this make sense?

I don't have a Uniden so I don't know how those are programmed, but yes you would program the red and blue frequencies for simulcast A. I would program all of the TGID's since all of them are broadcast on simulcast A. This is of course if you can receive simulcast A from your location.

How will that change reception? Right now I have every single red and blue frequencies programmed into one system, and ALL the TGIDS into one system. So you think that they are conflicting with each other by putting in other frequencies other than just A frequencies?

Yes, if you are scanning all the sites you won't hear all of the traffic. The scanner is locking on to the strongest signal, which probably isn't simulcast A if you're in Glendale. To only listen to Simulcast A you should only program 867.2125 and 867.9625.

hmmm, did not make any difference, I tired some other things too. It just seems though, when they say switch to "C deck 6" that I should be able to turn to that specific TGID and hear it. Right? So if I am not that tells me what?

Yes, and no. "C-deck 6" and "C-deck 9" are usually patched together. So If you don't hear the traffic on C6, then try switching to C9. When patched (almost 100% of the time). The dispatchers console picks a 'channel' that it will broadcast c-deck 6 on... Which can also be C9.
The same thing applys for:
c-deck 5, is patched with C7
c-deck 4, is patched with C8
And this also applys for the A and B deck channels. Example: A4, and B4 are usually patched, etc.
So, if they say switch to c-deck 4 you might have to tune your radio to c-8, or c-4. Only one of these will have the traffic, and its random, so you'll never know.
The best way to setup this radio is simple...
quick key 1 - C deck talkgroups only - frequencys - 867.2125 and 867.9625
quick key 2 - A deck and B deck only - frequencys - 867.2125 and 867.9625
This works VERY well. Hope it helps...

Thanks! Now I am wondering if I am getting it after all, but not realizing I am getting it - because if they say C Deck 6 but it could be 9, I might be listening to 9, not realizing it is 6.....so confusing....lol!
I will program what you said. Thanks again! You all are so helpful.

New system for C, and a new one for A-B.
Yes it can be confusing. You just have to remember, a - b and c deck despite having to load all 18 talk groups, there is only (in general when patched) 9 total channels.
Three - C deck channels. Even though you have to program all 6 C deck channels.
Six - A deck channels. Even though you have to program all 12 A and B deck channels.
Back before digital, it used to be channels 1-9.
1 was North Chase (Now C6, C9)
2 was Central Chase (Now C5, C7)
3 was South Chase (Now C4, C8)
------
4 was South Patrol (Now A4, B4)
5 was Central City (Now A5, B5)
6 was Desert Horizon (Now A6, B6)
7 was Squaw Peak (Now A7, B7)
8 was Maryvale (Now A8, B8)
9 was Cactus park (Now A9, B9)
So keeping all that in mind, program your scanners group keys the same.
System 1 - group 1 would be North Chase (C6, C9)
System 1 - group 2 would be Central Chase (C5, C7)
System 1 - group 3 would be South Chase (C4, C8)
Now for System 2, skip the first three group keys and start with group 4.
System 2 - group 4 would be South Patrol (A4, B4)
System 2 - group 5 would be Central City (A5, B5)
System 2 - group 6 would be Desert Horizon (A6, B6)
System 2 - group 7 would be Squaw Peak (A7, B7)
System 2 - group 8 would be Maryvale (A8, B8)
System 2 - group 9 would be Cactus park (A9, B9)
Now you will be able to moniter each section of the city at will via group keys.
You can use 2 systems like i'm saying, use the same system quick key. When you upload the systems upload system 1 first. Then go back and upload system 2. Whatever system you upload first with the same system quick key will be the first in the list to scan.
The result will be both systems scanning with 1 quick key. C deck first, then A-B deck.
