I'm new. need help for pima county

looking at buying a scanner, and dont know what to buy. My brother is tfd and i listen to azstarnet.com/scanner which works great, also listen to the scanner on my blackberry. BUT (theres all ways a but) i would like to listen to pima county sheriffs. knowing they use a trunking system im not sure what scanner to by that will work out best for me. i assume i can program channels so i can listen to one channel if i want to. so i ask what do i buy. im sure i dont need one thats preprogrammed. any help and suggestions will be helpful thank you.

The Pima County Sheriff’s system is LTR Multi-Net and there is no commercial scanner able to monitor it at this time. Read the Wiki to see what you need to monitor this system.

In 2012 there is suppose to be a county wide system that will replace everything currently used for public safety in Pima County. Don’t know what kind of system it will be, but most likely it will be something digital.

There are some systems you need a digital scanner for right now. TPD SWAT and surveillance, DM Air Force Base and Tucson Electric Power to name a few.

You need to join the SEARM yahoo group for more information on Southeast Arizona scanning. We have monthly meetings (last night) and lots of people who are willing to help.
