Default Phoenix 400 Precinct Channel Usage

Hi Everyone,

Over the past 2 months, the Phoenix 400 South Mountain Precinct has started using 3 channels for dispatch. I think 400 is the only precinct to use 3 channels for dispatch. Other precincts have A & B deck channels patch together most of the time. 400 Precinct, now has dispatchers assigned to each of their 3 channels – A4(2996), B4(2980), and C4(2964) on the RWC. As we all know, C4 is used for HOT or emergency traffic. However, does anyone know how they are separating calls on A4 and B4? (i.e. specific beats assigned to each channel)

Thanks in advance to the South Phoenix listeners.

Regards,

Joe

This appears to happen when its busy.

I have heard this with other precincts too. It seems to happen when there is a major incident on the 'patched' channel. They tell regular traffic to switch to A or B depending on whatever the system isnt broadcasting on I suppose.

They also do the same thing more frequently using C-10.

Listening a little closer tonight, it seems like 41x and 42x beats are being dispatched on A4. 43x beats are being dispatched on B4.

It's actually only A and B decks being used by 400 all hot traffic stays on the channel instead of going to C deck. C4 is usually A8's hot traffic.

This is basically what you guys already covered, but:

41 and 42 (the west side of 400) are on A Deck 4, as well as all of the HOT traffic for these beats. Officers no longer have to switch to a different channel for hot traffic.

43 (east side of 400 and Ahwatukee) is on B Deck 4. Just like A4, all hot traffic for this area is worked on B4.

C Deck 4 is not used by 400 anymore, it is usually only used when 800 needs 2 HOT channels.
