Default Buckeye PD on RWC

Since Tuesday, I have been hearing Buckeye PD on Simulcast B of the RWC. Talkgroup 4201 is being referred to as Channel 1 and 4202 referred to as Channel 2.

I am confused as I am only hearing these talkgroups on Simulcast B (which does not cover Buckeye). The talkgroups are not being transmitted on Simulcast E.

I’m trying to figure out what is going on. Buckeye was in the process of constructing a new 700mhz system. Can anyone around Buckeye confirm if this is online yet? Anyone have any other information about what is going on with Buckeye?

Regards,

Joe

Another update, I am also hearing the Buckeye talkgroups on the White Tanks site of the RWC. I am hearing other RWC talkgroups (like 2992 A08 Phoenix PD Southwest) on the White Tanks site. This is the first time I have heard the White Tanks site active.

769.11875
769.36875
769.61875
770.11875
769.86875
770.36875
770.68125
770.86875
771.11875
771.36875

Cellphone:

Can you confirm Buckeye PD has transitioned to the White Tanks RWN site and is no longer using Mesa Communication SMR?

Milo:
And am I understanding that you cannot monitor the proposed Buckey P25 system or its just not there yet?

General Comment:
The White Tanks 700 site was initially set up as a demo interoperability project for Superbowl XLII in 2003. It was also the RWC node for a Yuma-Phoenix wide area interoperability test in 2008. (Oatman Mtn was the WARICS node)

Is White Tanks active during other west side events, like PIR or Cardinals games?

I will monitor the old 900mhz system that Buckeye was using to see if I can hear any Buckeye traffic. I rarely monitor this system, but I will pay more attention to it this weekend. As of now, I am only hearing Buckeye on 4201 and 4202 of the RWC.

There is no active control channel for the new Buckeye 700mhz frequencies listed in this thread, so it seems this system is not online yet.

As for the White tanks site on the RWC, the control channel has been active for many months. However until this week, I have never heard any radio traffic on this site.

The White Tanks site is critical in providing the link between the YRCS and RWC. It is my opinion that the Super Bowl in 2008 was used as a way to gain funding for linking the YRCS and RWC together and creating the White Tanks Site. In reality, the White Tanks site of the RWC was not online and in use during the Super Bowl and is not needed for coverage in the stadium area. For radio traffic at the stadium, Simulcast E site at Luke Air Force Base provides RWC coverage for University of Phoenix Stadium. Much of the activity during games is on the Glendale system.

RWC radio traffic at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR) also uses the Simulcast E system. There is an Avondale tower on Simulcast E that is about 2 miles from the track site.

Here are some interesting links I found about the RWC:

This link outlines the demos of linking the YRCS and RWC which grabbed the attention of nationwide radio publications.

This link has Interesting information about margining of Simulcast E & G, as well as Scottsdale and Paradise Valley coming online in 2010. There is also a somewhat dated channel plan.
