How do I listen to only Phx fire station #31?
Phoenix fire dispatch is on VHF simplex, 154.900 MHz. They dispatch to all fire stations.
Is it possible to set up my BCD996XT to only open squelch for fire stations #9 and #31?
Does each fire station have its own seperate PL tone?
I have no interest in listing to dispatches for all Maricopa county.
I also cannot hear Phx Fire in RWCF P25 trunk. The Phx Fire TGIDs are listed in Southwest directory, however I don't hear a thing. Am I doing something wrong? I hear PD just fine.
Thanks, Tom....

Phoenix fire comes off of simulcast B, there not completely on there yet but should be soon. I'm not sure about fireground, I have heard training/testing on Mesa system that did carry fireground traffic.

Only if they use Motorola QCII tones. If so, you can turn your scanner into a pager and only activate for them. Look at the Fire Toneout wiki.

Is this exclusive to BC? (i.e. do the GRE/RS scanners have a similar features)

Yes - if you check the FTO Wiki, it shows you what scanners have it.

Tone outs
Does each Phx Fire station have its own seperate tone out PL freq? If so, where can I obtain a list for each file house?

I doubt they'd have separate PL. They might have separate FTO though?

No way to separate out calls. One frequency - one PL. No tones outs on the voice channel. They use a separate system to alert the stations.

I知 still missing the glue.......pls help me understand. I知 new to this and I知 trying to learn.
When I listen to fire dispatch on 154.190 MHz, I hear dispatches for every fire station in Maricopa County. How does "only" fire station #31 know the dispatch is for them?
Here is what I know and don't know.
I don't know what a FTO is or how to configure it for my BCD996XT.
I知 being informed stations do not use separate PLs for each fire station.
I知 being informed fire stations use separate system to alert the station. What is this separate system?
Thanks

Dispatch specifically assigns the closest units on an assignment. Anything near station #31 and you will hear the dispatcher assigning units from that station, E31, L31, etc.

As to what FTOs we have for Arizona, what is an FTO and how it's used, here's an article from our wiki based FAQ on the subject...
Fire Tone Out - The RadioReference Wiki
So far, at least, there's very little FTO stuff in the wiki for Arizona, so it would appear it's research time.
I would check the Uniden TWiki for the 996XT for how to set this up, if no one here answers that question...73 Mike

Usually the alerting system is not by radio, but over leased copper lines (or fiber optic, or whatever is in the area) run from the dispatch center to the stations. Even in a system where the actual voice alerting goes out over RF/radio, the system that tells station #31's alerting equipment to listen to the transmission (and everyone else to ignore it) is usually over landline of some sort.

Hi Tom,
Unfortunately there is not a way to alert for only Station 9 or 31 in Phoenix. Individual station alerting is done via a closed landline based system. Calls for station 9 and 31 are transmitted on 154.190 173.8PL along with calls from every other agency in the valley. There are very few stations that use a pager tone-out on 154.190. An example of the paging alerting is for Sky Harbour calls. For Sky Harbour calls you will hear a two-tone page prior to the standard alert tone that is heard with every call. Other agencies that use two-tone paging on 154.190 are Sun City, Daisy Mountain, Tolleson, Avondale, Surprise, Buckeye and Gila Bend. This list came from the Southwest Frequency Guide ( Southwest Frequency Directory - Police Fire scanner frequencies for Arizona).
Regards,
Joe
