Default Eeek! New Pro-106. Sooooo Lost. Help?

Okay. So today I bought a Pro-106 and it was easy to figure out how to enter analog stuff, but I can't figure out how to enter the talk groups and all that extra fancy stuff. And I can't figure out how to lock-out the stuff I don't want to hear. Every time I push the prorgram or manual or function button I get an error and have to turn it off then back on again.

Can someone PLEASE help me with this...before I toss it out the window?

Thanks!

Default **Update**

I figured out how to 'fix' the problem thanks to some very helpful people, but I still need programming help. I have the ARC500 software on my computer and the conventional frequencies are easy to program. It's the talkgroups I have problems with. In the spreadsheet thingy, I entered the talkgroup number, assigned it a tag and a scan list. I don't care about stuff like the LED color or alarm or whatever. Anyway, it says I haven't assigned it a trunking system or something like that. But the only thing on the drop-down menur is 'select' (or maybe it's 'none', I'm at work and don't have it with me). Does it NEED a trunking system assigned to it?

Please please please someone help me...

These might help - the first link should explain in clearer terms how you do something if doing it manually (concepts are always important); the next is the user guide for ARC500

Thanks, Mike. Unfortunately, that did very little to make it less confusing for me. Especially this part...

4. Double click the Trunk Systems cell. The software will show all available trunk systems.

5. Select the trunk system this new talkgroup belongs to.

How am I supposed to know which trunk system to select?

Is there anyone who would be willing to meet with me and help me with this? I'll buy you lunch or something. I know there has to be at least one person out there willing to help a poor, confused girl out!

If you go download yourself a copy of Win500 instead of that overpriced ARC500 junk and PM a guy named Astrak on here, he might be willing to send you a file you can just load to your scanner and be done with it.

A girl that's into scanning.. darn, where were you when I was single?

Hahahahaha! How flattering. I take it there aren't that many of us, huh? Probably mostly wives and girlfriends who 'put up with it' but not many who actually enjoy it a whole lot

If you get Win500, this should be helpful...

Yeah I can just send you a WIN500 file with everything in it, or let me know what you want to hear.

What can the Win500 do that ARC500 can't?

WIN500 has a 30 day trial period, you can try both ARC500 and WIN500 and see which one you like better.

Not only that, but you spent $500 on a radio. You're like the holy grail of scanner gals.

I know this thread has gotten old but I just wanna say...actually, I 'only' spent $400. *snicker*, but that's okay. I like my scanners. Even if I can't program the digital ones.
