Default DOD (army) new BSTRS

The army is currently installing new P25 380mhz trunking systems in Arizona. The systems are about 98% AES encrypted. All public safety, all mission related is now required to be encrypted. The only unencrypted TG in the system in yuma is the maint folks.

Is this the Yuma Proving Grounds or ? Any details: freqs, TGs, sites, etc?

MCAS Yuma has a 380 system too. I wonder if its part of the DOD network? But just not added yet?

Thumbs up

Nice find on these newer P25 sites.

Does anyone have Pro96com Tower####.txt reports available to read ?

Just looking for some "Site Neighbors" info for these newer P25 sites.

Thanks!

I was doing some comparisons, and the System ID and the WACN for the newly reported MCAS Yuma system seem match the US DOD systems.

Maybe the Yuma MCAS systems may be part of the DOD system.

Site ID 5-010 and 5-011 are not in the DOD system list and may be the 510 and 511 sites in the MCAS system. However site 502 is duplicated as 5-002 MCAS Camp Pendelton.

The YPG system does not seem to have the same SYSID and WACN, so not sure what to make of that one.

Thanks John,

I missed that. Good catch.

I'll see about getting that corrected.

Took a trip out to the Julian, California area today.
Heard these two sites from a hilltop.

Sorry didn't have the laptop with me to use the Pro96Com software

Found Site 512

385.8000 - Site 512 14C BEE00 - (It came in weak from the monitoring area in Julian.)
386.0625 - Site 502 14C BEE00 - Already listed on RRDB for Yuma area.

So Keep your eye out for site 512 in the Yuma area

Extra note: Site 503 386.2000 14C - Came in weak from the Julian area / Already listed in database.

Latest updates will be posted on this topic.

From the PDF file.

MCAS YUMA P25 LMR SPRING HILL SITE LAYOUT.
"Proposed Spring Hill Communications Tower Site"
Microwave Link: Via Black Mountain and Telegraph Pass to MCAS Yuma
(PDF Page 12 , 13 , 17 , 18 , 19 , 23 )

1.2 REGIONAL LOCATION
The proposed project would be located on approximately 1.6 acres (0.7 hectares [ha]) of undeveloped land in a remote area of Spring Hill, California. Spring Hill lies on the southern slopes of the Chuckwalla Mountain Range in east Riverside County, which borders Imperial County to the south and San Diego County to the southwest (Figure 1.1-1). The project site would be located northeast of the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park and southeast of Joshua Tree National Park (Figure 1.1-1). The site is located in the Chuckwalla Desert Wildlife Management Area (DWMA) (Figure 1.1-2).

2.2.1.1 Very High Frequency/Ultra High Frequency (VHF/UHF) Antennas
Five VHF/UHF AM/FM antennas located on the tower would be augmented with a high-performance directional antenna. The microwave transceiver at Spring Hill would connect by line-of-sight to an existing communications facility at Black Mountain, approximately 41 miles (65 kilometers [km]) to the southeast, where a new transceiver would be added to one of that site’s existing communications towers. From Black Mountain, the microwave signal would be relayed to MCAS Yuma via an existing microwave station at Telegraph Pass (which is approximately 39 miles [62 km] southeast of Black Mountain and approximately 16 miles [25 km] east of MCAS Yuma). Other government agencies also may install antennas on the tower.

Hi MtnBiker - any chance one of these mystery sites could be NAF El Centro?

ScanDiego.com is reporting TGs 20498 and 24106 for El Centro on the Navy ELMR system...

I'm going to San Diego next month, and I'll run through Yuma and on west to see what I can find from this end.
