Default Flagstaff and NAU PD New Frequencies

This is a re-post of an earlier message because thread was hijacked for other subjects. I would like for someone in Flagstaff to let me know on this thread when the frequencies below become active. Thanks.

----- Original Post ----

The FCC approved two licences this week. One for NAU and the other for the City of Flagstaff. It appears that these are associated with re-banding. It's also possible that they may be used for a new system, possibly digital. I would appreciate it if someone reports on this forum when they go into use.

These two sites are part of the "Flagstaff Regional Public Safety Cooperative System" This is a joint venture between the city of Flagstaff and Northern Arizona University. From what I have read, there is no firm timeline for this system to go online. However, given the fact that both entities already have analog trunking systems in place, this makes it more easier to expedite the installation of this new digital TRS.

Therefore, given the fact the recent upgrades to the high-speed microwave backbone were approved last week at the same time the RF license was, this system could come online at anytime now. However, on a conservative note, I would give them 90-180 days. Then comes the transition from the old analog TRSs to the new P25 TRS, which could easily be accomplished in one day for each entity.

The frequencies posted in this thread are not in use yet. You need to program the trunked analog radio systems as currently documented here in RR.

word on the street is that the new P25 system will be implemented this month. I will program the above listed frequencies into my Pro106 and let you know what I come up with in terms of wildcard hits. Should be interesting.

One thing I'd like to point out to anyone listening in Flagstaff (as of right now) is that the PD no longer shares the same system with NAU. PD has its own system now, but still simulcasts its channels on the old NAU PD system. If you're wanting to listen to Flagstaff PD, use their dedicated system. If you want to hear NAU PD, then use the NAU system.

I programed the freq. in my HP-1 and was pretty positive I was getting hits on both of those tonight. Since I was driving I couldn't look at the screen much or hear any activity. Anyone else picking them up?

Yes! I too am getting hits loud and clear from east flagstaff. The TGID hit is 8300. The traffic I am hearing is NAU PD. Sounds like the main NAU PD dispatch channel is TGID 8300 with a CC of 860.2375.

Getting close!

Did you program it as a P25 Trunked or just Motorola system?

Sweet! That is what I had it programmed as. Didn't notice it until I was almost home and getting close to out of range of the Elden. I didn't have the record on either.

The Cotrol channel of 860.2375 would also coincide with the post 19997 made. That CC is NAU PD devil's head. Not sure where Devil's Head is, but its loud and clear at the base of Elden, where I'm at.

What are you getting from Flag PD? I was seeing the HP-1 stop on both NAU and Flag. Both Control Channels where the same strength.

Nothing from flag pd yet on my end. A few of the officers I spoke with said they don't have their new radios yet, but that it could happen this week.

Mount Elden has a point on the east side that is referred to as "TV Hill" and that is what you see from the mall. On the west side is Devils Head.

So far here is the hit list from yesterday and today. most of the transmissions were dead air, or a tech saying "radio check." However a few times yesterday I heard FPD officers key up on the new system with just a "10-4" making me thing they were accidentally using the wrong radio. Those transmissions were on TG 8001.

Sounds like NAU PD has made the switch, as their traffic is in the clear on the devils head site TG8300.
