Question Emscom

Are any agencies using EMSCOM for Ambulance to Hospital communications any more, or has everyone switch to cell phones?

Default emscom

It is still in service. There was talk of expanding the system to 15 channels. All DPS cars are equipt with the full suite of frequencies, however most dont know that and further most all do not scan any of it. Most hospital ambulance communications are handled by cell, but I have herd that isolated areas of the state still use it. Yuma really does not. Though med 6 is dedicated, the units use cell instead. Med 5 is still used by the Ranger helos.

Some years ago maybe 5 or more we inquired, and were told Emscome would remain "in one form or another" even as the state moved to a p25 didtal system.
