City of Maricopa Police Feed
I finally got around to setting up a feed for Maricopa Police, I know not much happens around here, but with the popularity of smartphones and police scanner apps, I thought it would be neat to put up a feed. I don’t always have my scanner with me but I do have my phone. So I thought it would work for those times that I’m out and about seeing the police racing around code 3.
I’m hoping to put one up at work as well, for Casa Grande Police and Eloy Police just to have one dedicated to that. But this won’t be for a while. I hope everyone enjoys the feed as much as I enjoy the hobby. I just wish there was more feeds and information for Pinal County. I was working off and on, on the Pinal wiki, whenever I had time. I hope to add the complete radio codes for CGPD, PCSO, Maricopa PD, and Ak-chin to the wiki some time later this month when I get them all verified by a dispatched from PCSO I know.

Casa Grande and Eloy would be awesome. I travel through the area twice a month on my way to Tucson and it would be nice to be able to listen to them via a feed. I'd include CBP on the feed too, as I always see a bunch of Border Patrol trucks around Eloy every time we go through there.

Per RR terms of service a CBP feed wouldn't be allowed. You wouldn't hear much anyway, most of it's encrypted. Casa Grande PD and maybe fire would be nice to have.

Aw you're no fun.
You're right I had forgotten about that. Well the PD and FD would be good to have at any rate. DPS too, the Casa Grande sector has usually been very active whenever I've gone down there.

Was it Goodyear, or Buckeye that was supposed to be the PSAP and dispatch for Maricopa? I thought I read Buckeye.

I have been checking out craigslist for a cheap/used analog scanner that I could hook up at work for the feed down in Casa Grande/Eloy. As soon as I get one, I’ll get the feed up. I don’t think I can get BP because all the traffic I have heard is encrypted. I think I will add the fire department as well. Maybe as a split feed, like police on right audio and fire on the left audio, that would be awesome if I could figure out how to do it.
The radio dispatch and PSAP for the City of Maricopa is in Florence, and is ran by Pinal County Sheriff’s Office. I have not heard of any plans for changing it to Goodyear or Buckeye. But with the new City Government Complex being built, I have heard that it may be ran out of the new police Department being built, but that is if all goes to plan. I will ask around and see if there are plans to move it and to where.

There is a feed already that has DPS, PSCO, Florence and Casa Grande Police, but I know it was down for a while, and when it’s working it has too much going on, that it can be hard to follow a call. That is why i want one just dedicated to Casa Grande and Eloy, and Maybe Coolidge, but I have to get the scanner first and see what kind of reception I get.

If you are in Maricopa and stick an antenna on your roof, you should be able to get Casa Grande and Eloy clearly. I can hear Casa Grande clearly on my handheld (in the car) all the way to Shawmut (before going through the pass to Gila Bend). There is a lot of activity in the Casa Grande area now that it has built up so much. I'd love to see a dedicated feed.
On another thread, someone had a PRO97 with a non working LCD he picked up for $5. If you could find something like that, it would be a great unit to dedicate to something like this--as long as you made sure it had good rechargeable batteries and alway kept it plugged in in case of a power outage... ;- ) Of course, you would have to program it "in the blind" but you don't have that many frequencies to work with and programming something like a PRO97 is pretty easy (MAN, CH, PROG, FREQ, ENTER).

I had heard that the Maricopa Police Department will be dispatched by Buckeye PD. I'm not sure if this has happened yet or not. Pinal County Sheriff's Office currently (or was) the dispatch agency for MPD. Although MPD has their own radio frequency, their patrol call signs (even in CAD) all begin with "Maricopa XX". I hope this changes with the new PSAP.
Maricopa is a neat little police department. I wish they had made some, IMHO, better decisions with regards to their dispatch operations. For example, they bought their own CAD software & license through Spillman, even though PCSO already used Spillman with extensions to Superior PD and Florence PD. The PCSO dispatcher working the MPD channel would have to have (2) separate CAD windows open. They were not interfaced with one another.
Anyways, I don't know what radio system Buckeye uses, but I hope it works out well for MPD and the other mutual aid law enforcement agencies in Pinal County.

I can pick up Casa Grande Police and Fire with a mag mount antenna. But the reason I want to host the feed from work is because I have not figured out a way to host two feed from one computer. I could put it into one feed but I don’t want to crowed it up with too much traffic during peek times.

As of September 30, 2012 the City of Maricopa has changed to the trunking system and is no longer on their old frequency and not dispatched by Pinal County Sheriff anymore. I confirmed that with a police officer at the QT last Sunday night when he was getting gas next to me. He was thrilled with the new system and radios and said it was much clearer. He didn't know what talk group they were using but thought it was a part of Buckeye system. If anybody finds out let me know the new frequencies and talk group numbers so I can program my digital scanner. They are no longer analog.
Just found an article online regarding the change. The City of Maricopa is also joining the Regional Wireless Cooperative and has purchased new digital radios for their personnel as well as for their patrol vehicles. http://thebuckeyestar.net/2012/07/bu...ight-new-jobs/
