Default Best scanner setup for traveling through AZ?

I will be working through out the Valley driving in Scottsdale, Phoenix, Chandler, Tempe, Gilbert, Mesa etc... Whats the best way to program my Pro106 so that as I go through different locations I pick everything up? I have a 800Mhz car Ant so signal isn't an issue.

Thanks

I mean when I travel do I need to have every Simulcast site in my scanner to pick up PHX or will it pick up everywhere in the city and vis versa for each other city?

Thanks

Also I have an 800Mhz mag ant on my trunk but it doesn't seem to really work, cuts in and out just like the 800mhz one I have on the scanner. Is this normal or is it because I only have Simulcast A in my scanner for PHX?

You should try this again in standard English.

Ok sorry I was doing it from my phone last night.

1. I only have Simulcast A Phx PD freqs in my scanner for PHX, I do have Tempe, and Scottsdale sites for there talk groups. My question is if I am traveling throughout the city should I also have S Mountain, N Mountain, etc freqs in my scanner for the systems? It seems when I travel even with an 800Mhz Antenna on my trunk everything is still so choppy. If I program all of the sites in my scanner will this help as I travel across the city or does that not matter?

Thanks

If you're going to be on the west side White Tanks is the way to go.

chrisreston:

I don't live there but I have visited PHX a few times; although not lately. I would imagine that you are experiencing the same thing everyone else experiences when using a scanner to monitor simulcast P25 system sites, timing issues. The real radios do a much better job of handling getting multi-path transmissions that are just slightly out of sync than the (relatively) inexpensive scanner radios. Remember in simulcast transmissions not all of the transmissions arrive at your radio in the same instant and since you mention traveling at the same time, you add your movement into the mix. When duplicate out of phase analog signals arrive at a receiver the difference can sometimes be heard as a slightly distorted signal, but perfectly understandable; however, when you consider that a P25 digital signal is arriving at your radio at 9600 bits per second and each bit is either a 0 or 1, getting them out of sync can cause havoc with decoding the signal. Hence, you get what you refer to as "choppy" and others call "pixelated" voice.
