Phoenix PD Air Support company channel change.

At about 11:30pm last night, I heard two Firebirds on 123.025. One asked the other to switch to company. They didn't come up on 123.500, so I started searching.

They're on 123.650 now.

Thanks John. Were you using "Firebird" generically to indicate helos? I always associated "Firebird" with the State Agency.

.650 or .550? I don't remember when I made the change but I have 123.500 as 'Old PPD helis' and 123.550 as 'New PPD helis'. I have over 100 hits on 123.550 but that doesn't mean I programed in the right freq or I'm listening to PPD.

Rob, Firebirds are Phoenix PD helos. If they're doing PPD work they go by Air x (ie: Air 5). When they're helping other departments or agencies like the Fire Dept or DPS they go by Firebird.

They've used 123.550 and 123.500. Now they're on 123.650.

Got it, Thanks. I updated my software. I'm in Ohio for the summer and when I get back to Phoenix I'll reload the Phoenix programming and I'll have it.

Thanks 805! I was familiar with the PhxFire/DPS sharing. The ones I've heard were always, or nearly always, out of Station 41. When I've heard the other (PhxPD) sharing designations, I must have assumed they were the ones out of Deer Valley Airport.

I apparently mixed up Ranger 41 and the Firebird designation (among other things).

DPS Ranger 41 is now DPS Ranger 58, (new helicopter) and is no longer based at Phoenix fire station 41. I believe it's now at Deer Valley with the Phoenix PD/FD Firebird and MCSO Fox helicopters.
