Is anyone monitoring any of the DMR systems in the Phoenix area? Wonder which ones, on what scanner, and how reception is. Some of them sound interesting but I don't presently have anything to monitor them on.

Thanks,
Dave

Absolutely! Take a look at the list of AZ trunked systems in Maricopa and surrounding counties.

Arizona Trunking Systems

I use the BCD436HP and it works well.

Search between 450-470. There are MANY DMR systems that have not been documented yet.

Yes, I've noticed the growing number of DMR systems on RR but I have no way of monitoring them at the present. The ones of most interest to me are in the 800 and 900 MHz range. Have you listened to the SRP system by any chance?

I frequently listen to SRP. I am in Ahwatukee and I can receive sites 1, 4, 5, and 7. South mountain is the strongest and carries most traffic that is on other sites. The system is very busy during the day.

As mentioned, I am using a BCD436HP and it works very well on the 900mhz freqs that the SRP system uses.

I have it ready in a favorite list as SRP is my electricity prover and I will certainly listen during a power outage.

Thanks, cellphone, just what I wanted to hear. I enjoy listening to APS on their trunked analog system but SRP would be more meaningful since I, too, live in an SRP area.

Maybe someone else will chime in with some other DMR scanners and how they work.

I picked up a 536HP just for this reason and have used it with great success in South Florida, Vegas and a few other places. The issue is the stuff that's there just isn't terribly exciting to listen to. In Vegas almost every casino has migrated to DMR, great if you want to listen to security and housekeeping. In South Florida the schools and even the non-public safety entities of the county have switched but I didn't care about Carlos and Mary not getting on the bus or if the water needed to be turned off at a house.

Reality is that it's cool for about 10 minutes, but it's not for everyone that's for sure!

According to RR, we have a few more interesting things to listen to on DMR here in AZ than you do.

Okay, the Uniden DMR-capable scanners seem to be able to do the job. Anyone using Whistler in AZ on DMR?
