Default problem scanning phoenix pd

I recently picked up a BC296d and progarmmed it with MCCSO and Phonix PD.
I have no problem with MCCSO but when I try to scan PPD, it usually picks up a DATA channel and nothing else. I enabled the DATA SKIP in the scanner and reset the squelch and digital but no luck. Is there a trick to scanning Phoenix PD.
I also use it in Vegas and California and no problems there either.

I have a Pro-96 and have the same problem with Phoenix. It is hit or miss for me. I might pick up some calls then it drops right out.

Does anyone have a Pro-96 file with phoenix set up in it that works that can post on here so I can compare?

Thanks

Kevin

From the database here, it seems that Phoenix's trunk is one of the relatively few that actually is a 9600 baud true apco 25 system.

If so, you don't want to program it as 'smartzone', etc, but rather as a 'P25' system. Might be labeled as 'Project 25 Standard'.

Looks like the system has a LOT of sites, so you might just not be using the control channel of the closest site, too, and getting a weak signal.

I had the same problem when I worked at 44th ST and Baseline. I could not monitor Simulcast A. So I entered all the Simulcast in to my Pro-96, one simulcast into each bank. I found out that Simulcast C gave me the best coverage and hits on the PRWN.

Thanks. The C/C that I had were not the ones you had. I reprogrammed it to those and I will see what happens.

Question, what so you have the top part set as?

Mine is:
Normal 3600/9600
Base 800.000
Offset 380
step size 25.00

I didn't understand your question? But from what i think you are trying to ask is what the MOT trunking table set at?

I don't touch there settings, i just use the default settings on my Pro 96:

MOT 3600 - Normal
MOT 9600 - Normal

MOT Custom Trunking Table
Base Freq: 406.0000
Offset: 380
Step Side kHz: 25.00

The PRWN is a P25 9600 CC System and I believe that you don't have to enter any other info other than the Freq, Rx Mode (MOT). Hope you understand that.

hulka – do you have Win96, I could post a phoenix file.

Yes I do. Actually I pick up the Fire Dispatch pretty good and not any of the PD stuff. If I do pick up any it is in bits and pieces. I have A-4, B-4, C-4 programmed in and I know it is a busy talk groups because it is South Phoenix. I will post mine tomorrow. I have to get the kids to bed.

Thanks.

South Mountain seems to be a backup site. Use either Simulcast A or Simulcast C. You don't need the voice frequencies, just the main control channels. Look here.

I have all of the control channels programmed into one bank and still no go. I think it might just be the scanner. Then again I pick up MCSO with no problem. Sorry for the delayed posting. Attached is my p.96 file.

For phoenix the only control channels that carry all the traffic all the time are rotated between these two:

867.9625 - live right now
867.2125

Program only these two, as these are the only ones that have been used for the past couple years, constantly. Only one of them will be live at a time.

Sorry this is as much help as I can provide, I own a 396 myself.
