Aero traffic after dark at Ft Chaffee

Started getting a lot of chatter on aero channels at Ft Chaffee tonight. Went into search mode and scanned for awhile. I snagged 139.7, 140.425, 140.95, 141.550, 141.775 and 141.875, all AM. They were setting up practice attack runs from several different directions. Stepped outside and watched them pirouetting through the stars. It was pretty cool!

A Guy I work with is there for two weeks, He was looking forward to it, They originally went for two weeks of routine annual training, That's now been changed to mobilization mode, They advised over the weekend for the 875th batallion to be on call for the possibility of going to iraq, That word came down yesterday to suit up, We'll know for sure when they get back.

Are those statewide channels? Will I be able to hear then from here? Extreme NE AR...

141.755 is 188th A10's Air to Air Channel

Not gunna hear them in Paragould unless they are at high altitude.

I did catch some refueling traffic last week or so.

I'll try to send ya a file with some MilAir freqs to scan.

I put up an old discone antenna earlier this week and routed the coax to my oldest Pro-2004. Since everything is starting to go digital, I thought I might as well dedicate her to the military stuff in the area. It is starting to look like that is going to pay off. Seems like a waste of a 300 channel scanner but much better than setting her on a shelf to coat over with dust or dropping her into a box to wait for the day that someone tossing my stuff wonders what she is good for and drops her in the trash.

The A-10's were all using their collision avoidance lighting and as they flashed through the night sky, it almost looked like they were dancing. Wouldn't it be cool to be able to ride along with those guys some night?
