Default Help listening to storm chasers

I am very new at scanning. I purchased a 396XT and have things going pretty well, but I am having trouble listening to the storm watchers. I programed all of the info from the database through freescan. Last night there were a few severe storm warnings. I set my scanner to scan only the weather channels I programed but I never heard anything. A few times I heard a brief burst of static.

Can anyone shed some light on this? I would like to hear reports coming in to the Weather Service and reports of damage. Thanks for any help you can lend

Clay

They may not have been out spotting if it was a smaller event like last night. Make sure you have the Skywarn repeaters in your scanner.

Thanks. I will check and make sure but I am pretty sure I do. Do I need all of the repeaters or just the ones near my area?

You'll only hear the ones you have programmed, so it's up to you.
