Default Garland County massive Interference Issues

Starting last night and still continueing, every public safety VHF Hi band repeater has been having magor interference issues from an broadcast country music radio station. The GCSO all last night thought it was from one of thier deputies HT's.. But has figured out its a lot more severe an issue. Every one of the repeaters is getting this. It also extends to Hot Springs County, and was also heard for a while on the Montgomery County, and AG&F repeaters.

Still going on, noted on ALL Garland repeaters, Hot Springs County, Montgomery County, and a tad bit on Clarke,,,,, Sounds like the radio station seriously needs to look at thier high power transmitter... I remember our college station did this but we only had 100 watts,, so it wasn't too bad,... Our engineer fixed it pretty quick.

As far as fixing this... That will be up to the radio station as its thier issue.. They are causing interference on three to four counties PS radio systems. Thier engineers will have to do some reconfigurations/resetting on the transmitter as its way too much bleedover into the VHFHi arena. A small amount of bleeding is expected even tolerated... but to do this kind of thing... thats not good. May be damage to the system from lightning... Thats happened around here a LOT lately. I believe its US 97???? So far I hear it on every repeater keying up from the SO, to AG&F, to DOT, to even Oaklawn Jockey Club's three chans... Doesn't seem to be really effecting Clark County too badly.... But its nailing Garland, Hot Spring, Montgomery, and a small amount in Clark and other surrounding areas. Only VHF Hi, even with the tones set. If I liked country music I would say hey free entertainment.. LOL But as I barely tolerate it, and can't tolerate anything interfereing with Officer Safety, or Firefighter Safety.... It needs to go lol.

May be a problem with the GCSO system.

Cheap components and poor shielding can cause problems with broadcast stations who are 100% legal. They may have a tower really close to the broadcast stations transmitter and it is overloading the GCSO tower. Would not be the first time a tech installing something didn't pay attention to details.

It isn't always the fault of the broadcast station and it is not always their responsibility to find a fix.

I just listened to the feed for Garland Co.

I don't know if it's interference at the feed or interference on those actual frequencies, but that is clearly a video carrier heard interfering with the feed audio.

The actual interference ended about noon today, and was an issue with the radio station...It was interfering with at least four counties not just Garland.... Anyhow the issue was resolved.

So then the feed provider probably has a CATV signal leak nearby (or in their own house).
