OK got one officially ID'ed ad big info while monitoring it....
NEW FCC Deadline for NATIONWIDE narrowbanding and digital capabilities for ALL is 2020.
Rebanding for AWIN to begin in the next month as far as preliminary work.
AWIN MED system to begin implementation over the next year... Per the conversation monitored, Radios in EVERY hospital and ambulance capable of AWIN.
So we are getting an MED net of TG's similar to how the VIPER MED is done.

that is awesome. AWIN see a great thing in NC's VIPER and desides to bring the MED net to AWIN
wonder if the Memphis Hopstels get TG on the MED NET for EMS from AR to send them reports.

Voice and data security has come a huge way from VI days lol... On TRS's VI was never even used... At least not the kind that would have seen use on conventional systems... The following is a list of whats in use...
AEGIS Encryption, EDACS proprietary format similar to DES, but with a slight twist... Still used but going away as newer system upgrades occur, being replaced with 3DES and AES.
DES, which is used on only a few systems anymore, mainly in the business world, as its proven vulnerable...
3DES, or DES3 depending on who you ask- A very much improved version of DES used on most older systems, and several newer ones.
AES This is the Federally Mandated optimal encryption standard and its versions are the most secure there is.
