Thumbs down Greene County Won't Be On Air Much Longer

Bad News For Folks In Greene County....

Departments That Have Already Gone To UHF Narrowband NexEDGE Are Greene County Rescue Squad, Paragould Police Department, Paragould Fire Department, Greene County Sheriff's Department (99% of traffic but not all) and Arkansas Methodist Medical Center and CANNOT be monitored on any scanner under any circumstances as there is NO scanner on market today (and not one that will be made in the future I'm Told) that will monitor this system(s)... For others that are left, They've gone to narrowband VHF, However from what I'm hearing after the first of the year one by one the others will be changing over to VHF NexEDGE as well, By Mid 2013 all of Greene County Plans to be Narrowband NexEDGE either UHF of VHF and at this point.. NOTHING will be able to be heard in Greene Co. except Ham Radio and NOAA frequencies...Sorry for the inconvieniece but that's a county/department decision and not one that anyone can do anything about....Not sure it's a good idea but again, That's what's going on here...

If they are not encrypting, then you can still monitor using a tapped scanner and DSD software. Works for both NexEDGE and MotoTRBO.

How hard is that to set up?

As long as you have steady hands and good eyes for the stripping/soldering work, and a tad of patience, everyone that has done it, says its not too hard. I have never done any other than tapping a PRO-92 B to run T-88 and UnitTruker, and that was way too easy.

Actually the PSR-800 is one of the few scanners that includes discriminator output from the factory. I'm not sure how, but read your manual about it. You have to change a setting to make the headphone jack have this function.

Also, to clarify. This is an audio output and not a data output. It is different than what you would use for Pro96Com, etc.

As of now in GC, all you'll hear, is HEAR, FD Paging, and interop, other than when an agency uses AWIN.

Is anyone trying DSD over there to see if it's encrypted?

No I haven't but I heard the new system last week, It sounds awesome, Still a little p'd they won't let us have it but I found out they don't have ours either SO we can't hear them and they can't hear us, However, I can tell you it is NOT encrypted..

I saw the radio myself, The Diamond Scramble symbol was NOT on so they're in fact NOT using Encryption but that's why I'm not trying the DSD, If it doesn't work, No point in trying it or wasting time and funds to do it..

I got a Pro-433 with a tap and it's supposed to get TRBO, but still all I hear is the digital noise.
