It is my understanding that you need a license to own anything like a scanner and police are usually encrypted anyway.
A few years back Textfire was streaming their dispatch channel but it looks like they arent streaming it anymore. Their FB page hasnt posted calls/updates in a long time either.
I didnt want to risk having my scanner confiscated so I left it at home when I was in PI. I wouldnt be able to understand them anyway. I would have been interested to see if they used the same bands/frequency range, though, for things like mall security. My inlaws live in N.Mindanao and they have malls and medical centers every few blocks.
Are 2-ways as widely used in business and Transportation as in the US? I doubt cab drivers use them and didn't even see any trucking operations.Come to think of it, I don't recall seeing any ambulances either.

Good to know we got some people here from the Philippines.

I'd love to have some of those freq you have guys. I'm from Quezon City and a volunteer firefighter for San Juan City. Got 2 potable radios a VHF and UHF. I'm not that technical nor licensed radio user or operator. I just have the privilege to use radios due to being a volunteer. If anyone can help me program my motorola i'd appreciate it.

Stay Safe!

Hi jayzce! I'm a ham from the PH. There are active amateur groups in Metro Manila area. Some I have in mind are:

144.28 DX1ARM
144.74 DX1PAR
144.66 DX1PUP
144.62 DX1ER

Very few on the UHF but there are some hams as well. UHF is mostly commercial and public service.

Anyway 73 and hope to help!
