Actually what I should have done is get to work early today. Office has much better reception than apt does since its windows face N instead of SW.

Got them Lima Charlie at 2330Z.
Odd...at 2352Z, They accepted MARSA and referred to it as a random AR, despite there being a reserve on AR-20 at the top of the hour. Hmmm
Pretty much overhead YQI at this time (0010Z). Having connect problems. Will post audio later.

(0023Z) RCH968 now diverting to YYT (Gander) because of a negative offload and ETHYL24 now direct Hancock FL240 to burn off excess gas.

Wow..ETHYL24 requested FL140 over my station (0030Z) due to excess fuel. Moncton questioned if all is well. ETHYL explained failed AR attempt was the reason. At 0033Z.. Cleared to Boston Center.
Audio Links:
Part 1 here- http://audioboo.fm/boos/1301290 and Part II here http://audioboo.fm/boos/1301286 The tanker called in a Code3 for the boom upon returning home.

Very interesting..Rare A/R failure up that way.ETHYL req for low altiude prob to burn more fuel off for trip home.
Happens but not that often.. maybe I have heard only couple times over 10 years.
Wonder if Rch 968 picks up another Alert tanker out of Iceland perhaps?

Couple 22ARW McConnell tankers coming East late tonight..prob staging.

BLUE 52 KC35 57-1502 22ARW coming East tonight logged Ontario 0240z
BLUE 42 KC35 58-0013 22ARW also logged off Kansas few minutes behind.

Thanks Darryl! Sounds like they were heading NE bound, after hearing them talking to Moncton, or maybe Halifax. I guess I missed them too, sneaky buggers! I was hoping they were heading back south once they met.

Welcome Back Ian! Too early for me this morning. But I checked and sure enough on 373.550mhz was a Trend flight calling 40 miles west of Halifax. Not much else. Been painfully slow lately. Darn cutbacks are cutting into my fun.

Just got a KC-10 @ angels 26 and a "Contact" on Delta Pri /373.5500.

Edit:
So that one word was IT. Wow. Unless they were talking on something I don't have, that was a silent refuel. I think it might have been a Travis KC-10 from running the serial, but I don't know who was tanking (although as a KC-10 I suppose he coulda been ). Anyone know?

Thanks Mark! Sadly it was cloudy until about 5 seconds after they went over. At least knowing who it was is nice.

This afternoon mode s logged 3 GR-4 RAF Tornados into McGuire area 1900z
along witrh BORA 11 KC-10 60th AMW Travis all coming from Hill AFB Utah.
They should be heading home soon after Red Flag and couple weeks Hill range work.
Logged ASCOT 9621 and 9628 among the Tornados.
Should be at least 4 of them?

Thank goodness...been zero comms lately. I think the Tornados were nearby earlier this morning. Picked up some refueling on a Coronet freq. Hopefully something goes by this evening. Rumors of F-15s in the area...(unless that was what went by this morning).

The UK group confirmed that the Tornados (ZD790 & ZA592) were checking in with Oceanic as Ascot 9621 flight. There is still a hope that an unknown group of jets may be heading east soon. Keep those Coronet freqs dusted off.

Thanks Mark! I slept thru that one. I did pick up some comms from the tanker and fighters (F-15s). I think they were landing at Mildenhall later this morning.
