Just heard a plane (Oak? Oat? That doesn't make sense) talking to Bangor Ops. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi Darryl,
Yes, I caught them on recording Saturday. It was OTIS 81, 82, 83, flight of three KC-130Js inbound from crossing the pond for a stop in Bangor for fuel, customs, etc. They took off again for their last leg back to Cherry Point.

Hope this helps fill in the blanks.

Guess who can't hide forever? Bones that's who!
There is an hour and a half to go in this 3 hour tanking session, I wonder if this is the whole thing? Although side by side B-1/KC-135s make for a pretty decent tanking sighting...

Nice photo Darryl!! Love the Bones!
From what I heard, it was a flight of three. Two headed over the pond and one returned to Dyess as the spare. RAMA 51, 52, and spare 53.

Thats a crazy awesome photo. Where abouts was it taken? can you see this with the naked eye or did you have to use max zoom on your camera?

Nice one Darryl!! Finally you got a refuel with the new cam!! Woot! Me and the girlfriend watched them go over from in Bedford, but I didnt have the camera unfortunatly, was still awsome to see, and hear
Did you see both pairs? they were almost side by side when we saw them.
Just a side note for those of you who have access to the feed, I now have it set up with 2 locations to choose from, just go to the same page, then scroll down. Location/Mount 1 is only a stock antenna at the moment, but I hope to get something on the rooftop soon.

Thanks Ian! Finally. And it wasn't a C-17 or something but B-1! Yes I saw both pairs, glad you caught them too! Why the two antenna/feeds, different capabilities? Just let me know which has the best range for IFR and I'll connect to it Something that allows me to hear em contacting KBGR Departure will be fine... Heheheh
Res21cue, that was taken with a DSLR with a telephoto lens, nothing too crazy, a 250mm. I shot it from my deck in Clayton Park, they were maybe over Sackville.

B-1s rock! I remember my first B-1 catch, it was such an awsome feeling
The second of the 2 feeds is the best, its my original antenna setup with 2 antenna's (Discone and 1/4 wave Ground Plane) at about 45 feet off the ground, plus that location is at 85M ASL. I have a 330T and a 15X fed into one sound input.
I do hear them calling Bangor ops a fair bit, but departures might be a stretch lol If anyone on this forum wants to add thier feed to my server (cough Ed cough ) I could certainly give them the required info, so we could have a wider coverage area. Just a thought.

Yeah it's grea to finally have caught something, anything. They were a little north of where I saw them last time when they were right over Bedford Basin, but still glad I got em. Wonder what the chances are of Ed adding his scanner to that feed you have. It'd be like SOSUS!

So as of today. What's the active refueling freqs? I live near pease afb in Portsmouth,nh. KC-135 refuelers are based there. I watch them take off & land all the time but never heard them refueling.

Hi Kevin,
First off, welcome to this fine group!
I made a refueling map with frequencies a little while ago. My last update was June 2010 but nothing has changed on it since then so it is still current. Plug in these freqs and I know you will hear some refueling very soon.
You can find the map here:
NorthEast AAR Tracks - The RadioReference Wiki
Good luck in your monitoring quest!

Hi Kevin
I don't believe I have heard any refueling in AR-20 (but still put the freqs in) but I have heard it in the NH tracks so be sure to put them in as well. Also make sure you check out Special Use Airspace & Air Traffic Control Assigned Airspace to see when the tracks are scheduled to be hot. Although refueling can take place any time.

Ok thanks. NH track is on that map correct? I entered all the freqs off the map image above.

Yes, most of the stuff I hear is from AR-631, sometimes if I'm lucky I pick up AR-212.

I'm using a PRO-197. How can I have it record when I'm not home?
