I just eyeballed them through a break in the clouds for about 10 secs, looked like an E-4 or something similarly large, with a white bottom. Couldn't get to the camera fast enough lol.

Same here...once again, the wife spied it 1st through the clouds...too late to get a pic. This has been at least the 3rd such refueling in less than a year. Always PEACH69 callsigns.

It was on 360.200, not 364.200 correct? I'm missing a frequency if that one is in use so thanks.

It was 364.2 not 360.2 and based on your link Darryl this was an aircraft calling the Cdn NORAD sector. I have 364.2 as a NORAD freq... Now to figure out what TRIALS 30 is....

TRIALS might be a CP-140 Aurora(newly modified/updated??), I seem to recall seeing an Aurora take off at YHZ a few months back using that call sign. I cant be 100% on that, and they might use TRIALS for more than one aircraft, since I hear the call sign a fair bit here. I'll try and get a confirmation next time I hear it.

All good thanks guys! I was always around and monitoring. This is the second group of online people who wondered about me in the last few weeks. Maybe I'm not on the Internet enough after all!

Very common transmission from the Auroras (TRIALS) out of Greenwood. They check in with Sidecar on 364.200 (North Bay) requesting mode checks all the time. At times, depending on the weather, I have even picked up their replies (radio repeater is located in Bacarro).

The mention of Bacarro answered my next question which was how do they talk to Sudbury from this area. I guess this is just like civil ATC with their PAL's. Would be interesting to see the secret list of such remote sites, at least I assume it is secret. As for Bacarro I guess you mean the former CFS Barrington.... you don't happen to know if there is still an unmanned radar stationd there?

Yeah, it's near Cape Island. Still active (automated) as far as I know. I haven't been down there for a few years now.

I just looked on Google Maps and there does seem to be a radar dome type structure there so I guess the military still has its land and remote operation, and as looknlisten said, radio as well as radar.

Yep there is a wiki for most everything and in fact I looked at the Barrington one before you posted the link... really though I was referring to the radio remote sites, there must be a bunch of them around the country. When the tankers are flying over NS do you think they have direct radio access into say Maine and then back to base? Have you guys ever heard them calling home?

Other than phone patches and HF, I have not heard direct comms from the tankers to homebase (besides the 'local' tankers) via the usual airband.
