Default Police milege

Anyone happen to know why police always give the mileage to the dispatcher when they transporting someone to jail or wherever ? thanks.

It's for accountability purposes , so the officer can show that once the person was in their car they drove straight to the destination.

Used especially when transporting a member of the Opposite Sex, but now a-days for all transports, as mentioned to ensure direct transport and no hanky-panky or other issues

Also with the time stamps it shows that no stops (other than normal traffic) were taken along the way.
