Default Tytera announces new mobile DMR radio.

Still learning a lot about radios, but would this be capable of monitoring DMR systems like what CareFlite and PHI use here and North Texas and conventional systems like Dallas Fire-Rescue and Dallas Police like my BCD436? Looking for a second inexpensive radio besides a Baofeng uv 82wp (only capable of conventional, so would only pick up DPD and DPD) to monitor those systems at home till I can get the 536 or another 436.

Any answer would only be speculation, as the radio does not exist yet.

I posted in the other thread. It looks like its going to be a dual band radio. I posted a clip of it operating and it was definitely dual band with both freqs from both band displayed and the operator switching from one to the other and transmitting on both.

The dealer said it went up most likely because it was going from single band to dual band.

Default MD-380 External Antenna Question

Looking to use my MD-380 in a mobile environment. I don't want to use a permanent mount, mag mount, trunk lip, or anything like that. Does anyone know if the SpectrumForce Mini Window Antenna UHF/800 will handle the 4w output power for transmitting? Thanks in advance!

Is it? The "Pre-Order" page still only allows one to select VHF -or- UHF.

The TYT MD-9600 is in fact a Dual Band Radio. From the Buy Two Way Radios - Lowest 2 Way Radio Prices Anywhere! website:

"The MD-9600 supports analog and digital modes so you can enjoy the best of both. It provides dual band support, operating on both 400-480MHz UHF frequencies and 136-174MHz VHF at up to 50 watts VHF and 45 watts UHF, using Time-Division Multiple-Access (TDMA) digital technology. This digital mobile radio is also compatible with Motorola TRBO and DMR Tier II."

1000 Channels
• 136-174MHz VHF Frequencies
• 400-480MHz UHF Frequencies
• Repeater Capable
• AMBE+2™ Digital Vocoder
• Encryption (Digital Mode Only)
• Private Call/Group Call/All Call
• 45W/25W Output Power

From the images of the radio I've seen, it seems to have an entirely different format than the 2017. I was kinda shocked that it only had the capacity for 1000 channels/contacts. In other words, except for it being a dual-band unit, it is no better than a Motorola XPR4550 or 5550. I was expecting it to be a mobile version of the 2017, but that doesn't seem to be the case. The only similarity between it and the 2017 seems to be the dual-band feature.
