Default Homebrewed Discone

I built this antenna about 10yrs ago, from "The Ground Up" I used 3/4" aluminum plate, aluminum 3/16" welding/brazing rods,a LOT of stainless steel set screws,a piece of 3/4" plastic for the insulator/counterpoise.I even made the mount. The tube,is made out of aluminum conduit.Very 'labor intense',but the reward was well worth it!! I used the dimensions from a Radio Shack discone, and, went from there. This is a 16 element discone.Double the surface area than the Radio Shack discone. This thing works awesome!!!
Still my 'favorite homebrew' Military/Commercial Airband is LOUD and Clear.
Also,it held up great during our Ice Storm of 2006!!

Wow - nice job! Doubling up on the elements was a good move.

That b+w pic is worthy of framing for the man-cave!

Thank You; All.I'm very proud of this one.I mainly listen to Mil-Air.It works wonderful! I would almost take a beating than have to build another one by hand again.Like I said, lots of hours of labor, but,it paid off!
Thx

A very well done to you for that project. It must have been quite satisfying when you finally got it finished and started monitoring. Thanks for sharing it with us.
