A few minutes later a call to continue code 2 scene code 4 officer shot man trying to attack with a knife.

Still confusing sounds like it happened in the emergency room.

MARTINEZ — A man was fatally shot in a hospital emergency room early this morning after he tried to attack a deputy with a knife, said a spokesman for the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office.

A deputy told emergency dispatchers at 2:08 a.m. that shots had been fired at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center on Alhambra Way, said sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee.

An officer fired at the 47-year-old Rio Vista man, who was pronounced dead at the hospital. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

The sheriff's office is investigating the shooting with the Martinez Police Department and the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office.
