2 Structures Threatened In Gloria Fire - Central Coast News Story - KSBW The Central Coast
At first the news said that a CAL-FIRE helo cut down some high voltage wires, which sparked and started the fire. Then KSBW said that a farmer was trying to scare birds away with fireworks. Several people complained because none of their local AM radio stations were covering the fire. Most people don't own a police scanner; so they remain in the dark.

God forbid that KKMC temporarily cease with it's usual diet of holy roller programming. Nothing on KION except Sean Hannity and their other syndicated yap shows. KSCO pulled the plug on regular programs during three 2008 fires and the recent Lockheed fire too. Owner, Michael Zwerling at least understands that a broadcaster's primary responsibility is to serve the community's needs. What is wrong with those broacasters across the Monterey Bay? All they get is a few minutes of TV news coverage...

Yeah I was gonna sit down after eating dinner to post some new pictures, but the scanners went nuts once helo hit the lines and we lost power. Don't know if I was crazy but I saw the DC 10 last night it was one of the last drops and my camera just died and we had no power to recharge! I heard the power was out all the way down to north SLO CO?

The south county repeater was active throughout much of last night. I haven't checked 158.805 today. The other systems have alternate sites; so taking out the SO's channels would take multiple fires. DC-10s can land at the Salinas airport. The foothills around there are easier to maneuver than on the coast...

The only problem is all of their stuff is in Victorville to fill the plane with. Kern County sent a Strike Team of Type 3's out on Thursday night around 9:00 p.m. they were toned out and to meet up at station 26 in Lost Hills.
