Got the automated evacuation notice from Placer SO. My old shop location is in that neighborhood. Guess they still have me down there.

KCRA reported 50 plus homes burnt

Listening to the air tac channels this afternoon, several voiced their displeasure over the impending arrival of the 747. Even after it was cancelled, confirmed cancelled and re-confirmed cancelled, there was still some lively chatter about who was responsible for ordering it and why. I think someone may be taken down a notch or two.

Air command kept apologizing to the tankers on their way out about all the confusion. I arrived late and didn't hear what the confusion was, but with all the chatter, it sounded like a major screwup by somebody, either at IC or Grass Valley ECC.

Here's a pic I took on the way home from the west edge of Winchester Country Club, overlooking N. Auburn and the Christian Valley area. You can see two aircraft, and one Hawk was cruising by at the time. I need a better camera with a telephoto lens.. It's on my list.
