And for my 1,800th post, I'd like to remind everyone that listening to these feeds is a privilege, not a right. I have family in Big Bear, but I'm not whining about whatever lack of "service" I'm getting from the feeds. And yet folks 3,000 miles away are upset because they aren't getting their entertainment.

Arrow Attention Folks!

You can continue to discuss the actual incident and its various ramifications. If you continue to post about the RR site, feeds, etc., I will close the topic. No other warning will be issued.

ETA: Several infractions have been issued in the last hour alone. One person managed to garner 3, which was enough to earn a Temp Ban. Days ago Wayne said that discussing the feeds or lack of the would not be tolerated. Stay on the subject of the topic.

The Press Enterprise reported that the Riverside Police Chief told his city counsel that he was in there and is dead. That seems to be where a lot of this is coming from. He denied he could confirm the info, obviously as I'm sure he doesn't want to step on the SBCSD.

Default CNN Reports

Near Big Bear Lake, California (CNN) -- Los Angeles police and the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office moved Tuesday night to counter widespread reports that a body believed to be that of renegade ex-Los Angeles police officer Christopher Jordan Dorner had been recovered from a burning cabin near Big Bear Lake, California.

[update]

Officials at the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department and the Los Angeles Police Department refuted reports that Christopher Dorner's body had been found inside the burned-out cabin.

"We believe (the suspect) is still inside that cabin that caught fire … (but) no one has been inside the cabin," said Cindy Bachman, spokeswoman for the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

Leading law enforcement agencies and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa are denying earlier reports that the charred body of a fired LAPD officer wanted for at least three shooting deaths was discovered in a burned cabin in the Big Bear area Tuesday evening.

LAPD doesn't generally field too many one-officer patrol cars, other than supervisors and 1-officer "cold report"-taking units. Under the present circumstances I wouldn't be at all surprised if they've paired up all single-officer units, with the possible exception of supervisors.

None of those three procedures are common for Tactical Alerts in general, which can be called for a very wide variety of circumstances requiring more manpower than usually available - riots, barricaded suspects, wildfires, large planned or unplanned demonstrations or public events, earthquakes, or even for the "simple" reason that a division finds itself backlogged with more high-priority calls than they can reasonably handle within the dispatch time limits. Every incident is unique, so the alerts have a basic framework that can be expanded or contracted as necessary, and depending on the type of incident officers can be deployed as and where needed. Also, most Tactical Alerts are fairly localized and last only a matter of hours, so it's not necessary or practical to make any changes to officers' assignments or vehicles for the day.

Since this is a radio-related forum, part of calling Tactical Alerts includes having enough frequencies to handle the situation. Again, Communications Division is responsible for assigning those frequencies in consultation with the Incident or Department Commander, and the Tac Alert broadcasts should indicate which, if any, frequencies are restricted for the incident. The specific use for each frequency is handled by the Incident Commander and may or may not be part of the broadcast. Many detective and other specialized units have access to a number of frequencies that patrol officers don't, and those are seldom if ever mentioned on the commonly used frequencies.
Ok thank you sir, I understand now.

News reports aver that road blocks, house to house and vehicle checks etc have been terminated. Game over.

8 MTS 1, And 8 MTS 2 are law dispatch, Are not law tacs so there is no violation there. Right? SBCSD should have moved there ops to a encrypted tac channel. Of course they should also have moved there 10 or more SMARTNET systems to 1 SMARTZONE system years ago, But I digress.

More like the BS and rumor-driven, Twitterized reporting thickens.

I know a mod said no more talk of the feeds, I would like to clear some issues up as the SB East Valley & Mtn feed provider if I may. If I'm out of line please delete the post and I apologize.

I pulled Mtn 1 and Mtn 2 Thursday because sensitive info was going out on those channels while the tracking was going on Thurs till today. Lat and long etc of deputies positions and tactics. I have friends that were on that mtn, one who was a warden shot at today in the initial chase. I'm gonna buy them a steak dinner for running that POS to ground and you folks who whined about the feeds being taken off can you know what. Some called me crazy for thinking Dorner could monitor RR, turns out he was right next to the command post in a cabin that probably has Internet. That's exactly why they were turned off, officer safety means more to me than entertainment.

Sorry the feed crashed, the scanner was working so I'm not sure why the low audio. My RR archives show 3 hours were lost starting at 4:30pm. My home recorder had a power failure and I only got it back online around 7pm so no recording here of the Ops at the cabin.

On why they were talking on SB mtn main dispatch channels? I'll ask my warden buddy but it was probably all they had in their radios and they had to get the BOLO out this afternoon. Why the trackers and SWAT were on there I don't know, I heard several admonishments to take the TAC chatter off those dispatch channels on my scanner.

Also, a new feed appeared yesterday covering San Bernardino Mtn 8-1 and the feed is listing tac channels in it's info. That is against the TOS as spelled out here. I'm not sure who to notify but can someone with RR management please take a look? The manhunt may be over but another incident may start next week, it's been that crazy of a week here with the tour bus crash and now this manhunt.

Lt. Patrick Foy, Department of Fish and Wildlife spokesman, said the five wardens involved in the Dorner chase were all highly trained and had just received POF .308 rifles. (Irfan Khan, Los Angeles Times / February 12, 2013)

Boat owner hopes Dorner is finished off
SAN DIEGO — A San Diego yacht owner whose boat was nearly hijacked last week by an intruder police believe was fugitive Christopher Dorner said Tuesday he hopes authorities finish him off in Big Bear.
“I hope they finish him up today. We don’t want the expense of a trial,” said the 81-year-old yachtsman, who did not want his name published because he is a crime victim.
“It’s past, it’s over,” the yacht owner said of his encounter with Dorner. “He smashed things and took my cellphone. He wasn’t very friendly when he was here, especially when he tied me up. So, good riddance.”

So, who's going to pay the lady for her cabin?

This should not fall on the insurance company.
