I took the 8-1 and 8-2 feed off for good reason, if you can't figure out any scenarios where it could help the suspect I surely can't help explain why then.

Spectr, having provided the SB City feed for a long time, I finally tired of the PM's I continually received from people complaining and asking why I did not broadcast Narco, SWAT, etc. The new feed provider has no problem doing that, so good for them.
Thanks for the feed, and I applaud you taking it offline, in spite of the whining.
Why take the chance, even if it's remotely possible?
By the way, I can walk into nearly every convenience store in SoCal, and buy a throw away smartphone. How does LE track something they don't know about?

Yeah, I'm getting the same noise in PMs and emails. I guess anyone can let the cat out of the bag when they don't have to face their friends and explain to them why they compromised their safety. Bracing myself for the next goof to roll in here and tell me how wrong I am.

Well, got the big mast up, and now picking up San Bernardino 8 on my own. Glad I'm not dependent on online based scanners only. =)

I don't know about anyone else, but I haven't heard anything about any updates. Its possible there won't be anything past the usual statements saying they have it under control. Someone suggested LAPD is probably using mostly mobile phone communication to let each other know locations and whatnot. CJ5, let us know what you hear.

As a communications professional, myself, this silence coming from public safety, whether it be San Bernardino or LAPD could be a PR disaster. I wish someone would come out and at least give us some kind of status. Anything is better than nothing, because people are going to start to get worried, and that will just build up public animosity. The public is already starting to fill in the gaps, and worst of all there are sympathizers. That's not good. What the hell is going on?
Not much heard. I seem to only be picking up local dispatches. Not much in the way of tactical.

No press updates means (to me) they don't have anything new to say.
Personal gut instinct tells me he's not there and possibly never was for very long. I think the truck may have been a decoy and he was halfway back to LA before anybody knew it.
Question is, where will he turn up next and when?
If he is up there, he could be hunkered down in a shelter no one can find. He's had long enough to plan, so he could have a bunker stocked somewhere. Didn't the guy in Washington a year or so ago have a bunker deep in the woods?
On the other hand, could he have gotten caught by surprise by the snowstorm? How far ahead was it forecast? Did he know it was coming?
For that matter, if he knew about it, could he have baited the searchers into being stuck in it?

The suspect's truck is reported to have had a broken axle, I don't think he planned that. He appears to have fled into a snowstorm. Judging by the fat roll he has in his academy video I doubt he can go far with search/tracking teams that can rotate in fresh people pushing him. But everyone claims what a genius he is from shooting 4 unsuspecting people.
8-1 doesn't have the search traffic anymore from what I've heard today. As mentioned before above in this thread, they probably went to secure comms or cell phones. I heard a few calls telling the other unit to go to cell yesterday but yet I keep being told it's not a big deal to broadcast 8-1 on RR here???? The cops seem to think otherwise.
Searchers being stuck in the storm? You're kidding right?

Very true, but it doesn't sway well with PR, like I said. I'm sure ordinary citizens as well as police are all jumpy, so a brief word on the control of the situation is comforting to the public. Following the #christopherdorner trend on Twitter, there are a lot of speculators, and even more sympathizers. LE agencies would do themselves and the public a huge favor by just putting out a press release every few hours, even if there is no progress in the search. They even canceled a press briefing today at noon.

This thread has nothing to do with feeds. No more bantering on that topic. I also don't want encryption being brought up either. Discuss the event as is the purpose of this sub-forum. Unless there is more news on this topic this thread should go dormant.
Any further OT will be deleted.

I have a question. I was looking on Big Bear Scanner or SoCal Mountains and there were several posts that Dorner's truck was lit on fire during dark, and that it was found smoldering at around 930am.... That was the first time I saw anything that he would have a very large head start on any LE response.
also LA Weekly is reporting SB Sheriffs was left out of the new Dorner Task Force because someone leaked about the two AR-15s found in the burnt truck....

A murder was committed in Irvine.
A murder was committed in Riverside.
If he is determined to NOT be in Big Bear, San Berdoo is no longer has a dog in the race, as there was only evidence discovered there, not the commission of a capital crime.
That's my guess.

Karl, first I heard was around 9am when 40King was looking for the smoking truck and they found it. @ammie and Rain are the members on SocalMountain.com that monitor their board and scanner, they would be the best to ask about what was posted there and when.
With tracks leading away from the suspect's truck in that area he really can't go south or west, very steep country. North takes him into homes and hwy 18. East he could run that ridge clear down to Yucca Valley and have to only cross Hwy 18 once. I deer and bear hunt that area where he dumped his truck and there are rocky outcropping where one cold hole up in, some have caves big enough to walk around in. The big cats like to den in these outcroppings, wouldn't that be a fitting end? Judging by the pics that show Dorner with a belly roll he's not going to do well in deep snow at that altitude. If he goes down into one of those nasty canyons he may not make it very far.

Torrance PD seems to have made a statement to the LA Times justifying the shooting. Police seeking Dorner opened fire in a second case of mistaken identity - latimes.com
"A department spokesman said Saturday that the shooting is still under investigation. In a statement to The Times, the department said: "The circumstances of the incident known to the responding officers would have led a reasonable officer under normal circumstances — and these were far from normal circumstances — to believe that fellow officers were being shot at and that the vehicle traveling toward them posed a serious risk."
Very sad to see they are publicly arriving at conclusions in support of their employees before the investigation into the shooting has hit full steam, let alone concluded. It is going to be very interesting to look back on these incidents in 6-12 months when the facts have been aired.
