Wow... Not to get political, but after reading that... I think the people of Compton should be careful what they wish for. They mainly compare the number of "officers on the street". How about air support, SWAT, investigators, surveillance... All of the big budget stuff that LASD brings to the table. A huge chunk of the calls that LASD handles comes from that area. I was listening the other night and they had two copters working that area the better part of the night. I think the pilot said they had worked 5 shootings in a row. With those kinds of responsibilities... I think if LASD told me they'd handle that for 18 mil a year, I'd ask who I make the check out to.
