CHP Audio Feeds? Can anyone provide?
Folks,
We've got some glaring holes in California feed broadcasts.... CHIPS!!!
Because they are on low band, there shouldn't be any major equipment costs for folks to spin up a feed. Do you have an old scanner sitting around that could broadcast your local CHP operations? If so, please do volunteer to broadcast a feed.
See the following URL for more details on becoming a feed provider:

I think it would be great to get up dedicated feeds for CHP operations in Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, San Francisco, and Sacramento.
Anyone?

I think the main reason for the lack of CHP feeds is due to the Base/Mobile issue and the "difficulty" in monitoring mobile radios in several locations throughout the state. Monitoring the Dispatch side is pretty easy with a good antenna, elevation and maybe an amp. However, monitoring the mobile end can be near impossible depending on your location.
I know that Sonticus is working on a CHP Sacramento feed today.

CHP Sacramento (Gold, Black, Green, Blue)
I can handle CHP Sacramento; base, mobile, etc. I have just the scanner(s) for the feed. My problem is in dedicating a computer to do it. While I do have some older computers around, they're not set up with sound and/or TCP/IP.
EDIT: I just realized that I do have my daughter's old PC which runs Windows 98 and has a P2. What kind of streaming software out there runs under Windows 98? I might be able to set that up if there's something that works.

If all goes well I should have this up for the holiday weekend.
Just need time to reconfigure the feed computer.

CHP Sacramento's Gold and Black are streaming now. But like Antfreq said, the problem is hearing both the dispatch and mobile sides. I'm in a perfect spot for hearing the 72.46 freq so I am streaming the N Sac mobiles, but there is no easy way to hear the S Sac units. I thought about using the mobile extender, but the signal quality would make it pretty undesirable, IMO.
Maybe another feed could stream the Green and/or Capitol Ops? Just a thought....
I know I can get some Golden Gate freqs if the conditions are right, I'm assuming some other Sacto scanners might be able to as well. I'm thinking one feed might not be enough to effectively stream all of Golden Gate's eleven channels.

I have OCAPS on my LE feed right now, but they're in there with several other agencies. I was going to suggest the blue (with or without the pl) as well. I wouldn't bother with the extender.
Feed sounds very clear, but I'm surprised at how little traffic there is sometimes. Nice feed overall.

Funny you should mention the Blue. Just earlier tonight I unlocked it (with tone search) and immediately got traffic from Golden Gate. Unfortunately the signal wasn't strong enough to make it worth keeping in the feed. I might put the Valley tone back in there and include it. I'll play around with it a bit more and see how it goes.

Blue Valley (42.34 179.9) has been very active lately. Sounds like lots of SacCATS and ISU units on it almost every day.

CHP Golden Gate is up at it's temporary home.
I have to re-program the radio later this week with additional freqs (mostly the mobile side), and install it in the perm. home up on the mountain.
So keep in mind it's on a low-level antenna until probably Sunday.
