Question Hey Coachella Valley: Can you hear ERICA?

Looks like the Eastern Riverside County Interoperable Communications Authority (ERICA) may operational. Anybody out there hearing it yet?

A note in the RCS system meeting minutes indicates that the system was "up and running" in April of this year. From the April 2009 RCS minutes: "... a regional system in Coachella Valley, Indio, Cathedral City, Palm Springs, and Banning. ... Their system is up and running having 11 channels, 2 site-simulcasts plus one site multisite..."

The FCC data below apparantly indicates the same 5 freqs at 2 "sites", and one of those freqs shared as conventional repeaters at the other "multisites" at member cites. Are they counting each site as 5 'channels', and the repeater as another 'channel'? Or will the other 6 freqs come from the Palm Springs system when it is depreciated? Or creative accounting?

I checked the following frequencies from the north end of Palm Springs this morning and didn't hear anything.

855.4875
855.7375
855.2375
857.2625

I did hear the Palm Springs system, so it would appear that system is still up and the ERICA system is not yet in service.

I searched 851-869 when I was there 2 weeks ago and no P25 control channel other than the Coachella Valley Water District. Other digital voice logged was from San Diego RCS East Zone and Imperial County.

Palm Springs will be online later this year.
The rest should be on by May 2010.

Police to be on same wavelength by October 2011 | MyDesert.com | The Desert Sun

From their latest FCC filing:

"A first license was granted to the City of Indio and assigned to ERICA WQIP425 with three
frequency pairs. As more coordination was done and Letters of Concurrence obtained, it was
possible to clear one more frequency which was granted under the WQKL300 STA. It was not
possible to add this channel to the main license due to the 800 MHz border area license freeze.
We have now coordinated two more channels which we desire to add to the instant STA.

This will give us enough frequencies to begin testing the new ERICA P-25 digital trunked system
which is now installed. This filing for modification has attachments of the required Letters of Concurrence
and the APCO Frequency Advisors approval for the coordination of these channels. The channels
are:

Frequency LOCs received (attached)
855.2125 MHz Desert Hot Springs, Orange County, San Bernardino County
859.4875 Palm Springs, Orange County Transit Authority

The new ERICA system will be an 11-channel digital system which will initially serve the five member
cities of Beaumont, Cathedral City, Desert Hot Springs, Indio, and Palm Springs. It will
initially serve 1400 subscriber radios giving total interoperability amongst the cities. Capacity has
been planned to also serve other nearby municipalities."
