New Metro forums for the California forum
Everyone,
I'm going to slowly roll out sub-forums under the California regional forum that will be specifically for metropolitan areas of the State. There will be areas for Sacramento, the Bay Area, Los Angeles and San Diego. And sorry but no other ones will be included; no requests please.
This post is to let you know in advance and to start using them once they appear. All topics specific to these areas will need to be created in these sub-forums. I will also move many threads to these forums.
Any comments or questions, let me know here.....

Was wondering if that would ever happen. I hope it works well, I think it's a good idea.

Personally, I don't think the California forums are that busy to where we need sub forums but that is just me. How far out are the subforums going to be for the areas? Is it only going to be LA County? Is Orange and Ventura Counties going to be apart of LA County since they are practically married to each other as it is. What about the Inland Empire? Just wondering.

Excellent. As a frequent visitor to the Bay Area, I care about the Bay Area. To me, threads concerning LA or San Diego are just unnecessary distractions cluttering my screen.

I was kind of wondering about this too. Yesterday I was monitoring a wild chase in Yuba county from my Sacramento county location. I was wondering if I had posted anything about it, which section it should go into. This is not always a black and white issue.

Not sure if it's up for discussion still
I think Wayne idea is a good one. Something needs to be done. I'm sure there is many ways to do it.
Could have a "Northern California" , "Southern California" then be done with it.
It's setup like that on the NorCalScan , SoCalScan and other Yahoogroups.
Just have a feeling Southern California forum is going to get busy. When all the P25 Systems start popping up everywhere using the ISSI Gateways.
Look how AAA area for California is setup. Auto Club of Southern California and Auto Club of Northern California
AAA map for California area.

We be ahead of the game. When it becomes official split of California into two states

Over the years I've heard discussions of breaking California into more than one state. The variances from one part of the state to another are certainly wide to say the least.
Looking at what Wayne is planning, and looking at what people are saying here; it seems that they perhaps should just be labeled/used differently than the absolute names proposed by Wayne. So we'd have:
Los Angeles - Southern California excluding San Diego
San Diego - San Diego & border area
Bay Area - San Francisco, San Jose, Alameda area
Sacramento - Sacramento, San Joaquin Valley
Other areas would go into the generic California forum.

I would assume the IE will be part of LA.
Think of it as the TV stations method
Anyway I look forward to the change.

It seems to me that the vast majority of threads for southern California deal with Los Angeles County. I think limiting the LA metro forum to LA County would still result in minimal southern California postings to the general California forum.
Of course, it's all up to wayne.

Here's a rundown on how it will work. I'm getting started on it within the hour.
The Sac Metro area will include the San Joaquin Valley (what I'd call San Joaquin County and Stanislaus). I won't include Yolo since it's not a densely populated area.
The SF Bay Area will be San Francisco, the Peninsula, Santa Clara valley, Alameda County, Contra Costa County, and what's considered the "North Bay" (Marin, maybe Sonoma?).
The Los Angeles metro area will be what's seen as the "Greater Los Angeles Area". It will include Orange, Ventura and the Inland Empire Counties (Riverside and San Berdoo).
The San Diego metro area will be San Diego and Imperial Counties. I lump Imperial in since the RCS now covers much of it and it would make things easier on-topic.

So where would you put West Sacramento - it's in Yolo, dispatched by Yolo, but on the SRRCS?

If something is in Brooks or Dunnigan then I'd agree that it is not part of "Metro Sacramento". But if something is in West Sacramento (or even perhaps Davis or Woodland) it seems as likely to be a part of Metro Sacramento as the southern reaches of Stanislaus county.

I like this explanation.
For those familiar with the Sacramento Valley you know what goes where. Just use your discretion. If it's connected to Sacramento (i.e., uses the Sac system) then by all means put it in the Sac Forum.
And I didn't have enough pull back then avtarsingh.
